Matching plaids for my new dress!! – ¡¡Casando cuadros para mi nuevo vestido!!

On time for RUMS!!

This is the dress I made during a two month sewing course. It was a basic course, but I learnt a lot of tricks from the teacher and from a classmate who was formerly a seamstress.

The pattern comes from “Patrones n.332” (this is the Spanish Burda). It’s a loose-fitting dress with yoke and cuffs on the bias.

~~&~~

It’s made of flannel, so now I wish that the cold weather comes back for a while... hehehe... just the opposite of everyone!! Otherwise I won’t be able to wear it till next autumn.

~~&~~

It was an arduous work to match the plaids, but I got it!!

Back seam, side seams, even the sleeves were matched!

~~&~~

And it’s nice outside and nice inside!

~~&~~

There’s only one problem, the size I sewed was way too wide for me, so I had to cut about 5 cm from each side and about 2 cm from each sleeve… but I should have narrowed the yoke too, because it’s obvious that it’s too wide for my shoulders. Well, I think I’m still going to do it somehow.

~~&~~

And now laugh out loud with my poses...

~~&~~

Now I’m sharing all this at RUMS-E and RUMS-D!!, as well as at Meertjes Stuff and We did it! Wednesday.

Birthday crown – Corona de cumpleaños: reloaded

After finishing the quiet book on time, I only had to sew the number badge for Bubu’s birthday crown!!

So, the only new thing of this post is the badge, yes I know… it’s not that spectacular…

~~&~~

On Sunday Bubu wore the denim dress I made about two months ago, so I used a scrap of the same fabric for the number badge.

The badge has Velcro on the back side, like last year’s one. I won’t have to sew another crown until Bubu doesn’t like the pink one anymore!

I share the pattern of the crown here. Don't forget to show your version on the flickr group if you make one!

~~&~~

. . . . . . . . .

Here a compilation of my crowns (look for the word “crown” in the tag cloud if you want to follow every post I wrote about them):

And here what usually happens when I try to take the pictures…

Quiet book: finished!! - ¡¡terminado!!

Yes! I finished it!! On time for Bubu’s birthday next Sunday! The princess is turning 2!!

Apart from the pages you saw here, I added two more, I did the cover and I assembled the whole thing. Pheeeww…

Bubu shows interest in letters and numbers, so she needed pages about that.

In the letters one she’ll play with her name. She always wants me to write her name and then she does as if she could read it (a-li-na), it’s really funny!!

~~&~~

¡Sí! ¡Lo he terminado!

Fiiuuu…

Yes! Bubu’s called Alina¡Sí! Bubu se llama Alina

I looked for ideas for the numbers page, but I didn’t find anything I liked it, so I ended up doing “clouds” (well, they represent clouds, bushes and a pond) and putting things to count inside. The numbers are attached with snaps.

~~&~~

For the cover I wanted something special. I thought about sewing an “A” for “Alina”, like I did on the quiet books of my nephews, but that wasn’t a very original idea.

And then the embroidery, that Veronika (“Tag für Ideen”) gave us for Christmas, came to my mind!! I was at the same time waiting for a special project, where I could use it, something that would last forever. Don’t you thing the quiet book cover is the best place to be for the embroidery?

Besides, Bubu loves the bear motif!

~~&~~

And now about the binding system. Because I want to keep the possibility of adding new pages in the future, I have done two loops on each page in order to thread the ribbon of the cover through them, then through the flap, and then tie it in a bow.

~~&~~

And that’s all for today! Let’s see the face Bubu makes when she sees the book on Sunday!

~~&~~

Bubu got a play grocery store for Christmas. I think she will get a shopping cart someday, because she likes to push things with wheels (well, things without wheels too), but for the moment she “needed” a shopping basket.

I saw mini versions of this basket at Naii last year and pinned them, and now was the right time to sew it!

The patern is from Lovelihood, it’s free! They turn out so cute! I think I need one too!

~~&~~

You can fold and unfold it because it has snaps, and it’s reversible!

~~&~~

Here the basket being used.

~~&~~

Y aquí la cesta en uso.
