Retro Swimmers Dress (Ottobre adapt.)

Yes! You saw this dress on Instagram, but no one tried to guess where I had the pattern from…

Ottobre fans, don’t you recognize the “Retro Swimmers” pattern (3/2016)?

After sewing the romper for mini Bubu I wanted to do something for Bubu as well. The organic fabric, from the giveaway runned by majapuu, was “only” 70 cm, so I had to be creative and do something sleeveless above all…

I found the straps and the bodice of this swimsuit so cool, I thought it would be a good idea to turn it into a dress.

Because I was doing it with jersey and not lycra, I cut a bigger size than hers. Now I see I shouldn’t have done it… it turned out too big (so usual in me! Hahahaha Bubu will still wear it next year!).

Well guys, I’ll do blog-vacation this August, like I always do. Have a nice summer!!

Bolsa impermeable - Impermeable Bag (Pattern by Cucicucicoo)

Me da vergüenza no haberlo publicado antes…

I’m ashamed I didn’t post about it before… I sewed this bag last summer, when Lisa (@Cucicucicoo) asked for pattern testers.

Now that I’m using it again it’s time to show it!

It’s perfect for the pool or the beach because it’s sewed with waterproof lining. I keep my cellphone and other things safe from splashes when I’m near water, and when I leave the place I can store my wet bikini inside. Really useful!

To give it a maritime look I stitched a felt paper boat on top. I love paper boats!

Lisa’s site is worth a visit, her blog has nice ecological sewing and crafting ideas. The shopping bag I did with the umbrella fabric was another pattern test for her, for example. And she sells a few patterns too in her shop (the wet bag is among them).

Koala (Ottobre)

And more clothes for the littlest one in the family!

Something cool and practical for her to move freely, that’s what she needed.

The pattern named “Koala” (Ottobre 1/2016) was the perfect one, doing some alterations: shortening the legs and instead of cuffs, I did a normal hem with the double needle.

I didn’t sew the frontal pocket because I thought the print of the fabric didn’t need any “distractions”.

Did you know I won this organic fabric on a give away runned by @majapuu? I let them surprise me and this was the result! A complete Finnish combo (pattern + fabric)!! :-D

And the ones who follow me on Instagram know I also did something else with the fabric… next week more with it here on the blog.

Más shorts reciclados – More recycled shorts (Mermaid - Ottobre)

Like I said last week, mini Bubu needed shorts.

So today the second pair I did, recycling a T-shirt of her father (+ jersey rib from Cal Joan).

I used a pattern of the Ottobre 3/2016 called Mermaid. I didn’t do the petals of the side openings, but I sewed on a mermaid (happy coincidence with the name of the pattern) I had from a remnant (left after sewing this T-shirt).

The mermaid is my modest contribution to the “Pimping - month" organized by Blog de Fans de Ottobre, and I use it to know where the front of the garment is!

Shorts reciclados para mini Bubu - Recycled Shorts for mini Bubu

~~&~~

Mini Bubu needed shorts. I found this sort of women’s coulotte on the recycling pile and thought I could give the experiment a try…

~~&~~

I cut the shape directly taking another pair of shorts as a reference, sewed the rise and crotch, closed the sides, and did two pleats at the bottom, because the waist was still too wide for her. Ready!
