Under the sea (quiet book) - Bajo el mar (libro de fieltro)

A quiet book for the newborn daughter of my blogger-friend @Tag für Ideen. It made no sense sewing baby clothes for her because she does so beautiful things. I decided to do a maritime quiet book since they live in the Austrian mountains, and maybe I could awake their wanderlust (German word, by the way) to visit the Mediterranean this way.

The book has a texture seahorse, a ribbon jellyfish, a hungry whale, a crinkly star, a shell with a shiny pearl, a crab with glitter claws, and a paper boat on the cover.

I hope you like it!

I did this quiet book for Mini Bubu’s birthday. I followed the tutorial from the magazine “Sabrina Nähen” (21-22/2017) made by Claudia Winkler @teenytinymom. I did some little changes from the original, as usual…

It’s the sort of felt projects I love, tiny pieces, lots of surprises and details, colorful, a bit of hand sewing…

I think the pictures will explain it better.

Quiet book

~~&~~

Mini Bubu has been playing with her sister’s quiet book a lot recently. That’s why it was time to do some pages for her.

She likes rain and birds, so I got the inspiration for this one page above.
And I wanted to do something with her name.

~~&~~

And because quiet books are perfect for getting rid of all sorts of scraps (fabric, felt, ribbon… I keep everything), I can participate in Mi guerrero y mi princesa’s “En agosto retaleo”!

~~&~~

Here some more details of Bubu’s quiet book I posted three years ago. And here and here the very first ones I did for my nephews (how primitive do they look like to me, now…).

And now I’ll share it at the Craftastic Link Party (Sew Can Do).

Quiet book: finished!! - ¡¡terminado!!

Yes! I finished it!! On time for Bubu’s birthday next Sunday! The princess is turning 2!!

Apart from the pages you saw here, I added two more, I did the cover and I assembled the whole thing. Pheeeww…

Bubu shows interest in letters and numbers, so she needed pages about that.

In the letters one she’ll play with her name. She always wants me to write her name and then she does as if she could read it (a-li-na), it’s really funny!!

~~&~~

¡Sí! ¡Lo he terminado!

Fiiuuu…

Yes! Bubu’s called Alina – ¡Sí! Bubu se llama Alina

I looked for ideas for the numbers page, but I didn’t find anything I liked it, so I ended up doing “clouds” (well, they represent clouds, bushes and a pond) and putting things to count inside. The numbers are attached with snaps.

~~&~~

For the cover I wanted something special. I thought about sewing an “A” for “Alina”, like I did on the quiet books of my nephews, but that wasn’t a very original idea.

And then the embroidery, that Veronika (“Tag für Ideen”) gave us for Christmas, came to my mind!! I was at the same time waiting for a special project, where I could use it, something that would last forever. Don’t you thing the quiet book cover is the best place to be for the embroidery?

Besides, Bubu loves the bear motif!

~~&~~

And now about the binding system. Because I want to keep the possibility of adding new pages in the future, I have done two loops on each page in order to thread the ribbon of the cover through them, then through the flap, and then tie it in a bow.

~~&~~

And that’s all for today! Let’s see the face Bubu makes when she sees the book on Sunday!

~~&~~

Hi there!

I’m in the middle of a few things right now!

One of these sewing projects is a quiet book for Bubu. I started during the Christmas holidays but I wasn’t able to finish it, so I think it’ll be Bubu’s birthday present (she’s turning 2 next month).

These are the pages I already finished, although I still have to “bind” them, that’s sew them together (and then make a cover, of course…).

Some of the pages are the same I did for my nephews (seen here and here): the zipper, the velcro, the button pages and the yarn hair girl.

~~&~~

¡Hola gente!

But I made one with Bubu’s “toy best friend”, Kiconico, where she can dress and undress him (under surveillance for the moment, because the clothes are really small and she could try eating them).

~~&~~

Like in the other quiet books I made, I’ve used all sort of recycled fabric: scraps I had or I got from others, shirts and T-shirts I got from relatives… As I always say, a quiet book is perfect to get rid of tiny fabric and felt bits! Therefore it’s a clear case for Upcycling-Dienstag!

Even my favorite pajama pants are there too. They were also seen on the Pleated Playsuit, Valentina, the quiet books, and on the tag-ball.

~~&~~

I copied the page of the season tree from a post of “Make it and love it” (she got it from a book). And she inspired me for the “sock laundry” one (although I did it another way).

~~&~~

Copié la página del árbol de las estaciones de un post de “Make it and love it” (ella lo sacó de un libro),  y me dio la idea de la de la colada de calcetines (aunque la he hecho diferente).
