Thank-you gift!

This is a "thank you" gift for auntie Montse, who took care of Bubu a couple of times, when the grandparents weren’t available.

The heart is a mug rug, with a sort of pocket for the sugar sachet or the tea bag. And the owl is a bookmark.

~~&~~

The patterns are from the Book “Tolle Geschenke selbst genäht” that I bought during the summer holidays.

Both things are perfect to get rid of scraps, especially the owl. So you might recognize some of the fabrics (the hearts one, for instance, from the nightgown / dress).

~~&~~

That's all for today!! Now to the linky-parties:

¡Esto es todo por hoy! Aquí dejo las linky-parties:

La Castanyera

This is something I did a month ago but I wasn’t able to post till now (too many sew-alongs in the middle…).

“La Castanyera” is a woman who sales roast chestnuts on the street at this time of the year. There are child’s songs about it. With this “kit” Bubu could sing and dance the songs properly!

It is a very simple project, but it was the perfect excuse to use my new toy, the rolled hem foot. It needs a little practice at the beginning, but the rolled hem resulting is really fantastic!

~~&~~

I used a linen skirt that belonged to my auntie for the black half apron, and rests from the rayon I used for my reversible skirt. Therefore it is a perfect project for the Upcycling-Dienstag!!

~~&~~

Knickers for the Queen! - ¡Braguis para la reina de la casa! (MsMSw)

After the sew along of Naii with the underpants for the boys, it was time we had a sew along for our underwear!!

La Pantigana together with Yolanda from Pandielleando shared their knickers pattern “Bragas retro” for the MsMSw of this month. Here you can find the tutorials.

~~&~~

Habemus braguis!

So, here they are!

The first ones are the partner look of the boxer briefs, and because it was funny sewing them I did a second pair, this time à la Bethioua.

~~&~~

Dress for me! – ¡Vestido para mí! (Maratón telaria week 5)

Yes! I did it! I survived the Marathon Telaria till the last week!

When I decided last week to sew something for the last challenge I had no idea what to do. I rummaged through my stash and I picked this pink (salmon) fabric with birdie print (viscose/rayon – 1,40€/remnant, that means, from the market again).

~~&~~

¡Sí! ¡Conseguido!

I traced the pattern pieces from the book “Das kleidet” I bought in Germany during the holidays. I combined two dresses, the top is from one of them and the skirt from another.

Once I had the pattern pieces there was no chance I could get them all from the remnant (I didn’t want the birdies to be upside down, something that would have left me a little scope for manoeuvre).

But “stubborn” is my last name…

I improvised the back with black French terry (seen on the boxer briefs) and I had to do the decorative false piping.

~~&~~

And is there anything that I hadn’t tried yet and I could do now that I had plenty of time (ironic, of course)??

-Lining a whole dress.
-Putting an invisible zipper.

I followed the tutorials of “4 en la carretera” for the zipper, and “Entre hilos” for the lining (and understitching). Thanks girls!

I’m going to save you the explanation of my love affair with the seam ripper, specially by putting the zipper… It’s normal for a first time, I guess…

I did the blind hem with the special foot (like I did to mend my granny’s dress), and closed the bodice lining by hand.

~~&~~

Here the inside… - Aquí el interior…

Do you think it’s too long? Would you do it above the knee?

~~&~~

¿Creéis que es demasiado largo? ¿Lo haríais por encima la rodilla?
