It was time I sewed the beach bag with this fabric I bought in Gijón years ago with this purpose.

It has been the perfect zero waste project! I've used even the last scrap, it's the strap of the purse, ha!

I drafted the pattern myself, with all I needed: zippered pocket inside, big pocket with snap outside and long zipper becaise I don't want to loose anything.

¡Cosida y estrenada!

¡Chao chao!

Not that they use a lot of plastics in my usual bakery, but sometimes when they have no more paper bags and packagings (or when they don’t feel like it), you may go home with a plastic bag instead.

In order to avoid that, I’ve sewn two cotton bags. (Yes, I’ll try not to the bakery with my skirt on…)

I hope more people do the same, because it seems like I’m the only one in the whole neigbourhood doing this.

At least, I’m very pleased to see there are others in the blogosphere taking care of the planet thanks to Cal Joan y más and 4500 millas and their “#AbrilDeEcoCosturas” (=Eco friendly sewing April).

Go and take a look at it! See you soon!

Mochila – Backpack

A backpack for me.

Pattern drafted myself.

Fabric from local stores.

The faux leather was veeeery tricky to sew. I ended up using moisturizing cream, so that it moved under the presser foot.

It is, by the way, one of my “12 months – 12 fabrics” of this year. Yay! And I’m happy I’ve completely used the dragonfly fabric too. The little scraps on the picture are all the leftovers.

I’m happy I could recycle some fabric for the pocket, and the metal hardware and zippers are all recycled from other bags as well.

Bolsa para juguetes – Bag for toys

Easy Project, but a must have for an order lover like me.

Mini Bubu got a set of bowling plush toys, but they had no box or bag. Mama takes one fat quarter I got from Laura (@Con mis manitas) when mini Bubu was born, and ready!

Bolsa tupper - Lunch Bag

Once a week (sometimes twice) I have lunch at school. I have been wearing my lunch box in a plastic bag for over a year… ahem… it was really time I sewed a nice lunch bag.

Here the result, done with a piece of waterproof tablecloth. And with a pocket done with a remnant Más de lo que me gusta gave me at the Sewing Camp.

Now I’ll be the most glamourous lunch-boxer every Tuesday! ;-)

Bags & Elephants…

~~&~~

Bags and elephants, yes… I sewed them long time ago, but I never posted about them. They were gifts for newborn baby girls.

~~&~~

You can find the free pattern for the elephant here.

~~&~~

And these two were for a baby boy and for a baby girl. The one for the girl is still waiting to meet her… (and she will soon turn 1… what a disaster…)

~~&~~

Back to RUMS with my teacher bag. The one I had been using till last year was already broken. Because this course I changed from teaching motivated adults to teaching in a high school, so I was entering the «dark side», like a friend of mine says, I thought I needed something colorful.

~~&~~

I drafted the pattern myself, with all I needed: the right size for a folder and books, outside pocket for tiny things, zipper pocket for the keys, inside pockets...

~~&~~

All fabrics were bought at a local store. I specially like the color of the triangles and the silver shine of the sort of faux leather.

All hardware was recycled from other bags. Yay for recycling!

~~&~~

I centered the triangle print everywhere for a better look.

Chau chau!

~~&~~

If you remember I also did a pencil case at the beginning of the school year.

And that’s all for today!
