This is the lantern we
made for Bubu to go to await the
Three Wise Men. Maybe you don’t know it, but in Spain we get the “Christmas”
presents traditionally
on
the 6th January (yes, we unwrapped a few yesterday!). I think that’s pretty cool, because this
way the Christmas spirit lasts longer here…

Este es el farolillo que le hemos hecho a Bubu para ir a esperar a los Reyes Magos. Me imagino que si me leéis en castellano ya sabréis de qué va, pero por si acaso os aclaro que en España los regalos de "Navidad" se reciben tradicionalmente el día 6 de enero (¡sí, ayer mismo desenvolvimos unos cuantos!). ¿Genial, no? así la Navidad dura más aquí…
The “Three Kings”
bring the
presents
in the night from the 5th to the 6th, but in the evening people go to see them in the street parades. It’s something magical for the children.
I’m not sure if in other parts of Spain they do it too, but here the children wear lanterns to the parade. So this is Bubu’s one.

Los
Reyes reparten los regalos la noche del 5 al 6, pero por la tarde-noche la
gente va a verlos desfilar en las cabalgatas. Es algo mágico para los niños.
No estoy segura de
que se haga en todas partes del país, pero aquí los niños llevan farolillos a
la cabalgata. Así que aquí tenéis el de Bubu.
It's made of aluminium wire, red tulle and felt. When I was a child the
lanterns used to have a candle inside, now there are only LEDs…

Está hecho de alambre de aluminio, tul rojo y fieltro.
Cuando era pequeña los farolillos iluminaban
con una vela, ahora llevan leds…
