The Junebug Dress (Pattern by CINO)

Two dresses for two princesses!!

I’d pinned the Junebug dress ("Craftiness is not optional") some time ago and it was time I sewed it!! But I've done “two for the price of one”, like we say here!

The one with hearts is for Lilly, Veronika’s little mouse (“Tag für Ideen”). It’s actually her “Christmas present”!! They received it a little late, but in Spain we get the presents in January, we can’t forget that! ;-)

I'm glad they liked it!! Here her post after receiving the packet!

[I posted about her presents for us last week.]

I’ve done the version without sleeves, like in this tutorial at “Sew girly studio”. I think it’s more practical like this, because it can be worn in winter with something underneath, a turtleneck for instance, and in the summer with a tee or without anything.

The bodice is fully lined. And the hem is finished by hand with a blind stitch.

Do you like it?

Handmade presents for us

Today I’m showing the handmade presents we got. I think they deserve a place in the blog, because there’s so much love and effort in them!

My sister can knit and crochet very well. This is something I admire, because although I’ve learnt a few stitches, I always forget how it works and I don’t really have the patience to work with hooks and knitting needles.

Therefore I’m proud of our new zpagetti bath rug (yes, in red, matching the other bath accessories)…

~~&~~

proud of the washing mitt, Portugal old style…

~~&~~

proud of the granny square blanket for Bubu…

~~&~~

and happy about my new fabrics, also Portugal import. Ok, this is not handmade, but it’s going to turn into something handmade! ;-)

Hey! And she gave me some Autocad lessons!! One step closer to drawing proper sewing patterns…

~~&~~

Last but not least, we received post from Austria! Veronika from “Tag für Ideen” thought of us for her Christmas presents and sent us these key rings and this embroidery design. How nice, aren't they?

Hers are very special presents, because they are the proof that this blogging world isn’t as cold as it looks like for the outsiders (although it really makes you spend a lot of time alone in front of the computer), and that it allows you to meet fantastic people with the same interests.

~~&~~

¿Chulos, no?

Thank you Veronika and thank you Sister!

And thanks all of you for being there taking your time to read me!!

~~&~~

This is the lantern we made for Bubu to go to await the Three Wise Men. Maybe you don’t know it, but in Spain we get the “Christmas” presents traditionally on the 6th January (yes, we unwrapped a few yesterday!). I think that’s pretty cool, because this way the Christmas spirit lasts longer here…

~~&~~

The “Three Kings” bring the presents in the night from the 5th to the 6th, but in the evening people go to see them in the street parades. It’s something magical for the children.

I’m not sure if in other parts of Spain they do it too, but here the children wear lanterns to the parade. So this is Bubu’s one.

~~&~~

It's made of aluminium wire, red tulle and felt. When I was a child the lanterns used to have a candle inside, now there are only LEDs…

So, my next post will be about the handmade presents... Till then I leave you with the fantastic linky-parties:

~~&~~
