Dress for me! – ¡Vestido para mí! (Maratón telaria week 5)

Yes! I did it! I survived the Marathon Telaria till the last week!

When I decided last week to sew something for the last challenge I had no idea what to do. I rummaged through my stash and I picked this pink (salmon) fabric with birdie print (viscose/rayon – 1,40€/remnant, that means, from the market again).

¡Sí! ¡Conseguido! ¡He logrado sobrevivir al Maratón Telaria hasta la última semana!

Cuando la semana pasada decidí coser algo para el último reto, no tenía ni idea de qué hacer. Busqué entre las telas nuevas que tenía y cogí esta rosa-salmón con pajaritos voladores (viscosa – 1,40€/retal, o sea, del mercado otra vez).

I traced the pattern pieces from the book “Das kleidet” I bought in Germany during the holidays. I combined two dresses, the top is from one of them and the skirt from another.

Once I had the pattern pieces there was no chance I could get them all from the remnant (I didn’t want the birdies to be upside down, something that would have left me a little scope for manoeuvre).

But “stubborn” is my last name…

I improvised the back with black French terry (seen on the boxer briefs) and I had to do the decorative false piping.

Calqué el patrón del libro “Das kleidet” que compré durante las vacaciones. Combiné dos vestidos, el top es de uno y la falda de otro.

Una vez tuve las piezas del patrón no hubo manera de sacarlas todas del retal (y evidentemente no iba a poner a los pájaros boca abajo, cosa que me hubiera dejado más margen de maniobra).

Pero  a terca no me gana nadie…

Improvisé la espalda con sudadera de verano (la visteis en los calzoncillos) y tuve que hacer el falso cordoncillo decorativo.

And is there anything that I hadn’t tried yet and I could do now that I had plenty of time (ironic, of course)??

-Lining a whole dress. 
-Putting an invisible zipper.

I followed the tutorials of “4 en la carretera” for the zipper, and “Entre hilos” for the lining (and understitching). Thanks girls! 

I’m going to save you the explanation of my love affair with the seam ripper, specially by putting the zipper… It’s normal for a first time, I guess…

I did the blind hem with the special foot (like I did to mend my granny’s dress), and closed the bodice lining by hand.

¿¿Y hay algo que todavía no hubiera probado nunca y que pudiera hacer ahora que tenía tiempo de sobra (leed con ironía)??

-Forrar un vestido entero.
-Poner una cremallera invisible.

Seguí los tutoriales de “4 en la carretera” para la cremallera, y “Entre hilos” para el forro (y el understitching). ¡Gracias chicas!

Os voy a ahorrar la explicación de mi historia de amor con el descosedor, especialmente a la hora de poner la cremallera… Supongo que es normal al ser la primera vez…

El dobladillo invisible lo hice con la pata especial para ello (como hice con el vestido de mi abuela), y cerré el forro del corpiño a mano.

Hoodie – Sudadera con capucha (Maratón telaria week 4)

Soooo, last week of the Marathon Telaria for Kids!! I don’t even know if I’ll have the strength to sew something for next week, the Marathon goes on to one final adult week… it’s really crazy!! 

You know last week I was very busy with the shirt Bethioua, so I didn’t have the time to think about sewing something else for me!

Bueeeenooo, ¡¡última semana del Maratón Telaria para niños!! No sé ni si tendré fuerzas para coser algo para la semana que viene, ya que el maratón sigue una última semana más, esta vez ya para adultos… ¡Qué locura! 

La semana pasada estuve bien liada con la camiseta Bethioua, así que no tuve tiempo de pensar en coser nada más para mí…

Sea lo que sea acordaos de apuntaros al sorteo del patrón con un simple comentario. 

Well, this week we could sew what we wanted. So, being practical like usual, I sewed something Bubu needed: a zipper hoodie.

Pues esta semana podíamos coser lo que quisiéramos. Así que, práctica que soy, le he cosido algo a Bubu que necesitaba: una sudadera con capucha y cremallera.

The pattern is Schnabelina’s JaWePu, available in sizes 56-128. Schnabelina has actually a lot of free patterns with detailed instructions, they are written in German but are easy to follow thanks to the pictures. Have a look at her site, it’s really worth a visit!

I did different pockets from the ones she suggests. And because I didn’t have any stretch jersey for the cuffs and bottom, I used the same green jersey of the hood and threaded an elastic through them (do you remember the green fabric, by the way?).

I think it only lacks some facing, but it’s still a fantastic pattern!!

El patrón es el JaWePu de Schnabelina, disponible en las tallas 56 a 128. Schnabelina tiene en realidad un montón de patrones gratis con instrucciones súper detalladas. Están en alemán, pero gracias a las fotos son fáciles de seguir. Mirad en su página, ¡vale mucho la pena!

Respecto al patrón le he hecho unos bolsillos distintos. Y como no tenía tela de puños, he hecho estos y el bajo con la misma tela de camiseta de la capucha, pasándoles una goma (os acordáis de la tela verde, ¿por cierto?).

Creo que sólo le faltan unas vistas, pero aún así ¡es un patrón fantástico!

The sweatshirt fleece is from the market again (this one cost me 1,60€ the remnant). I fell in love with the print when I saw it!

I can say loud (and angry too) that the zipper cost me way more than the whole rest of the materials, but that’s another story… (I’m beginning to hate the haberdashery around the corner…)

La tela de sudadera afelpada vuelve a ser del mercado (esta me salió a 1,60€ el retal). ¡Me encantaron los muñequitos cuando los vi!

Puedo decir bien alto (y con cabreo también) que la cremallera me costó bastante más que el resto de materiales juntos, y eso que no es ni del color que la quería, pero esto es otra historia… (estoy empezando a odiar la mercería de la esquina…)

Bubu has already worn it, because it was sewn during the Kids Clothes Week, and it has been a great success among friends and relatives.

Let’s see if it’s a success too among the Telaria girls. Here are the projects of the others.

Bubu ya lo ha estrenado, porqué lo cosí durante la Kids Clothes Week, y ha tenido éxito entre las amistades y la familia.

Outside in a nightgown – A la calle en camisón… (Maratón Telaria week 3)

Third week of the Marathon!! This time the theme was “Sweet Dreams” and we all had to sew one same pattern. Well, actually, we had to choose if we wanted to sew a nightgown or PJs. The pattern was provided by Angeles (Moldes de vestidos), who makes personalized patterns with your measurements.

¡Tercera semana del Maratón! Esta vez el tema era “A dormir” y teníamos que coser todas el mismo patrón. Bueno, en realidad teníamos que escoger entre camisón y pijama. El patrón lo proporcionaba Angeles (Moldes de vestidos), que hace patrones personalizados con vuestras medidas, ¡una pasada!

You can see that I chose the nightgown.

Como podéis comprobar escogí camisón (¿seré la única? me ha parecido ver sólo pijamas hasta ahora…)

I used fabric from the market again. I fell in love with the little hearts when I saw them! 

I jazzed it up with dark blue rick-rack, and did the button hole in the same color.

Usé tela del Mercado otra vez. ¡Me enamoré de los corazoncitos cuando los vi!

Tuneado con ondulina azul marino, y ojales del mismo color.

Once I tried the nightgown on Bubu I thought it was a pity that it stayed at home, so she went outside in it!

I tried with a ribbon to take it in at the waist (although the pattern is so personalized that you really don’t need anything, it just fits perfect), and I sewed it only at the front. This way you can tie a bow at the back.

Una vez puesto pensé que sería una pena que la creación se quedara en casa, ¡así que Bubu salió a la calle en camisón!

Como último detalle, probé con una cinta a modo de cinturón (aunque como el patrón es personalizado, en realidad no se necesita nada, no le queda ancho ni mucho menos), y se la cosí en la parte delantera. Así se puede atar un lazo en la espalda.
