Since I’m
still working on the mini-version of Sara and I can’t show it, I want you to
see the quiet books I made for Christmas for my three nephews. Well, today
you’ll see the ones I did for the girls: Jana and Ariadna.
I don’t
remember anymore how I discovered the world of quiet books, but I was
fascinated the very first time I saw them on the internet, and I thought that
would be something for the three little monkeys!! They are 2 years old and I
wanted to make something “educational” for them: Quiet books are fantastic to
develop the fine motor skills.

Como todavía estoy trabajando en el mini-yo de Sara y no lo
puedo enseñar, hoy quiero que veáis los “quiet books” que hice por Navidad para
mis tres sobrinos. Bueno, hoy os enseño los que hice para las chicas: Jana y
Ariadna.
No recuerdo cómo descubrí el mundo de los “quiet books”,
pero me fascinaron la primera vez que los vi en internet, y pensé que eran una
buena idea para regalárselos a los tres bichos!! Tienen 2 años y quería algo un
poco educativo para ellos, y resulta que los “quiet books” són fantásticos para
trabajar la motricidad fina.
As a good
fan of the recycling and upcycling, I rummaged through my remnant boxes and I
asked around if someone had some clothes to get rid of. So, these quiet books
are made out of shirts, T-shirts, (pajama) trousers, tablecloths, napkins and leftovers
from other sewing projects. And some felt as well, obviously.

Como buena fan del reciclaje, revolví en mis cajas de
retales y pregunté a mi alrededor si alguien tenía alguna pieza de ropa que ya
no quisiera. Así que estos libros están hechos de camisas, camisetas,
pantalones, manteles, servilletas y restos de otras obras costureras (y sólo
compré dos retales de patch por capricho). También hay fieltro, naturalmente.
In the girls’
books I wanted to have a buttoning page, a snaps page, a shoelace one (although
they will learn this much later), a zipper and a Velcro page, and one page with
the yarn hair girl.

En los libros de las niñas quería que hubiese una página
sobre botones, una con cierres automáticos, una para atar cordones (aunque sea
algo que aprenderán más tarde), una página
con cremallera y otra con velcro, y finalmente una página con una muñeca
con pelo de lana.
I tried to
feature other abilities, like matching colors. In the buttons and snaps pages
for example, the kids should match the color of the flower with the color of
the button. And every pair of snaps was sewn in a different color thread.

Intenté incluir otras habilidades, ya que estábamos, como relacionar
colores. En las páginas de los botones y de los automáticos por ejemplo, se
tenían que juntar las flores con el botón del mismo color. Y cada pareja de
automáticos está cosido con un hilo de distinto color para poder emparejarlos.
I found my
inspiration googling the words “quiet book”, there are tons of fantastic ideas
on “Google Images”.
